Erik Somwaru comes from a background in Go Ju Ryu Karate, which he trained in since the age of 5. He was active in AAU competitions, medalling numerous times in both state and regional tournaments. He attained his rank of black belt at the age of 17, and at 18, began his training in Krav Maga under Master Instructor Rhon Mizrachi. His natural physical talent and his previous background aided him in successfully completing the rigorous instructor's course, the required foundation to become a full instructor in the Federation. He participated in the 2008 Krav Maga Federation training in Israel, receiving his blue belt in front of a committee comprised of Grandmaster Haim Zut, Uri Rafaeli, Dan 8, as well as Master Instructor Mizrachi. In 2010, Erik was subsequently chosen by Master Instructor Mizrachi to represent the Federation flagship school of the United States. In this role, he assisted in demonstrating Krav Maga techniques in Brazil, at the commemoration of the 100th birthday of Imi Lichtenfeld, the founder of Krav Maga.
In March 2011, Erik tested to his rank of brown belt with David Weintraub in front of the U.S. professional committee of this Federation, observed by Pete Muldoon (Dan 3) to be of unmatched understanding and ability in its performance. He holds a degree in Criminal Justice from John Jay College and has worked as a Krav Maga advisor for an HBO series. After much consideration towards a career in law enforcement, Erik chose to continue his career as instructor of Krav Maga, upholding his teacher's Federation standards to maintain the highest level of Krav Maga in the world. He now teaches at Krav Maga Federation in New York City, where he provides both group and individual instruction.
Instructor David Weintraub began his training in Krav Maga at the age of 16, following the path of his teacher, Master Instructor Rhon Mizrachi, in dedicating his life to the art of Krav Maga. His discipline-- his physical abilities, his ability to comprehend technical material, along with his gift of interpreting and executing the material-- has resulted in his knowledge of Krav Maga which the Federation's Professional Committee has remarked to be of encyclopedic depth and precision. It is this exceptional talent that led Master Instructor Mizrachi to choose David as an instructor at the flagship school of Krav Maga Federation, for which David completed the rigorous instructor's course, the required foundation to become a full instructor in the Federation.
In 2010, David was handpicked as a representative of this Federation to participate in the Krav Maga demonstrations held in Brazil commemorating the centennial celebration of Imi Lichtenfeld, the founder of Krav Maga.
In March 2011, David tested to his rank of brown belt with Erik Somwaru in front of the U.S. professional committee of this Federation, observed by Pete Muldoon (Dan 3) to be of unmatched understanding and ability in its performance. David's intellectual and physical dedication to teaching and training as well as his extraordinary talent as a martial artist allowed him, in December of 2012, to complete the test to Black Belt, matching the level of skill and knowledge demonstrated during his Brown Belt test. He not only received his belt, but is now a full instructor of Krav Maga of the Krav Maga Federation.
He continues to teach at the Krav Maga Federation flagship school, upholding Master Instructor Rhon Mizrachi's standards to maintain the highest level of Krav Maga in the world. He provides both group and individual instruction.

Cory Bragar has had a lifelong commitment to both martial arts and teaching. She began studying Taekwondo at age 7. Bolstered by the confidence her martial arts study gave her, Cory opened her own Taekwondo school while she was still in high school. After high school, Cory went to Trinity College, where she continued teaching children, this time in a variety of academic subjects. After college, Cory took a brief detour from teaching, attending Harvard Law School and practicing law for four years. However, she did not abandon her martial arts training. Cory began her study of Krav Maga in 1997, under Master Instructor Rhon Mizrachi head of the Krav Maga Federation. In 2003, Cory received her instructor certification from Grandmaster Haim Zut. In 2006, Cory came to her senses and left the law to pursue teaching full time. Since then, Cory has dedicated herself to teaching children and young adults in a variety of fields (everything from Krav Maga to magic to SAT preparation). Cory taught Krav Maga at the Rodeph Shalom school and is now the coordinator of the Krav Maga children's program.
Cory is also the Director of Standardized Testing at Ivy Link, an educational services company providing tutoring and admissions counseling services.
